Simply Living was founded in 1992, incorporated in 1993, and began functioning as a membership organization in 1993. Simply Living is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation headed by a Board of Trustees elected by a vote of the general membership. Board members serve two-year terms; offices of President, President Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer are one-year terms. The daily management of the organization is maintained by staff, volunteers, and through contractual services. All Trustees and contractors are members of the organization. Membership is not required to participate in any other activities of Simply Living.

Simply Living's newsletter is published bimonthly and distributed to over 400 households in central Ohio and around the country. A monthly calendar of activities, all of which are open to the public, is also published, and is available online here. Writers, poets, artists and mailing team members are always needed!- Earth Institute Study Courses
Through the permission of Northwest Earth Institute, based in Portland, Oregon, Simply Living has formed the Eastern Heartland Earth Institute to offer courses on Voluntary Simplicity, Deep Ecology, Discovering a Sense of Place, Globalization and Its Critics, Healthy Children - Healthy Planet, Choices for Sustainable Living, and Global Warming: Changing Course. The courses are stimulating and open-ended, creating a wonderful learning environment for participants.- WCRS / Simply Listen Radio
WCRS 98.3/102.1 LPFM broadcasts 3 pm to 8 pm daily. We are broadcasting locally-produced programs and programming available through the Pacifica Network.- Member Events
always include a vegetarian potluck and some activity or topic for discussion. They are often great fun and usually include a learning component as well as plenty of socializing.- Clintonville Community Market
is a collaboration between Simply Living and the Calumet Natural Foods, and is located at 200 Crestview Road in Clintonville, Columbus, Ohio. Simply Living’s projects at the CCM include the Simply Living Bookstore and Resource Center for Sustainable Living and Simply Living Products.- Learning Groups
meet regularly on varying topics related to Simply Living's mission. Among our current and recent learning groups are Intentional Community, Simply Living Healthy, Peak Oil / Global Warming, Alternative Transportation, and Mindfulness with Money. The groups use a variety of learning tools and styles, including book study, discussion, field trips, and shared activities. Persons willing to organize or facilitate a group, or wanting to participate in a group on a particular topic should call Simply Living at 614/447-0296.
